Development of Natural Resources

Optimum utilisation of natural resources is necessary both in the short-run and the long-run. The following guidelines can be helpful for development and utilisation of natural resources :

(i) Resources should be used so as to minimize waste arising from non-reclamation of cultivable wastes, inability to work a mine fully, failure to make use of by-products, etc.

(ii) Conservation of renewable resources and economical use of exhaustible resources.

(iii) Multiple use of resources wherever possible, e.g., irrigation, power supply, flood control and navigation from multipurpose rives valley projects.

(iv) Integrated planning in the use of natural resources.

(v)  Abundant supply of energy resources specially electrical energy so as to utilise other resources in the best possible manner.

Maintaining ecological balance while exploiting natural resources for economic development.
