Ethics

Every individual of this wants to live in an idea world he seeks to determine the norms, ideals and standards of the particular society or organization. it is generally observed that there are three ideals of human life, i.e. truth, beauty and goodness. They correspond to three aspects of our experiences – thinking, feeling and willing. The ideals of good refer to the ethics.

Ethics is the subject of philosophy. It refers to the standards on which the person decides what is right or wrong or good or bad. It prescribes what human being ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefit to society, fairness or specific virtues. it also refers to the study and development of one’s ethics is the activity of examining the moral standards of an individual and a society and asking how these standards apply to our lives and whether these standards are reasonable or unreasonable i.e. whether they ae supported by good reasons or poor ones.

So, it can be said that Ethics is a set of moral principles, which guides the code of conduct and behaviour of a human being in his life and in society. It is person’s own attitude and concerning good behavious. It resides within individuals and each individual in his own way defines these separately.

Nature of Ethics

  • Ethics is a social as well as individual phenomenon.
  • Ethics is perceived as Science than Art – there was an argument whether ethics is a science or an art. But thinkers found that it is more of a science than art because it as a defined and systematic knowledge about morel behaviour and conduct of human being. It is a normative science, which implies a guide or control of action.

Ethics standards are the ideals for conduct of life – it reflects the moral philosophy of the culture for a society. It deals with human conduct that is voluntary and forced by person’s circumstances.
